Originally visualized by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, Bluesky started as an invite-only platform before it went public in February. As per a report by Associated Press, Bluesky’s user base climbed to 15 million in mid-November from 13 million which was recorded in late October. A remarkable surge was noted during a ban that was laid by Brazil on X in August which attracted 2.6 million new users, out of which 85 percent were Brazilian. Another upsurge of 500,000 users was reported in October followed by X’s controversial decision to allow blocked accounts to check public posts. The platform has driven users like politicians, journalists, and celebrities, and many of them are getting nostalgic about Twitter’s early days. Bluesky is offering a haven for those who are looking to engage in discussion and share memes in a less hostile-ad-free digital space.
