The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction which just took place in Delhi saw players and team owners congregate in a packed room to prepare for a high-octane bidding war. The auction itself was a successful one with Deepti Sharma and Amelia emerging as the most expensive players while Alyssa Healy found no bidders. One head-turning moment that occurred before the event started was the arrival of Mumbai Indians co-owner and luxury connoisseur Nita Ambani.

As Nita Ambani walked into the venue alongside MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur, the crowd was not only entranced by her impeccable style and presence but also the highly identifiable Hermes Bijoux bag that accompanied her. That Mrs Ambani has an extensive collection of luxury bags and that quite a few of them are by Hermes is well known but what made this one specifically stand out was the sparkling and enormous ‘AKPV’ charm.

What is the ‘AKPV’ charm and what does it mean?

While the internet attempted to play detective and decode what the bejewelled AKPV could stand for, the answer was right in front of their faces the whole time. If one knows anything about the Ambani family and has kept up with them, they will easily be able to tell you that AKPV stands for Aadiya, Krishna, Prithvi and Veda, the grandchildren of Nita and Mukesh Ambani.

Twins Aadya and Krishna are the children of Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal, born in 2022, while Prithvi and Veda are the children of Aakash Ambani and Shloka Mehta. Nita Ambani carrying their initials on her person is not only a sweet tribute to her grandchildren but also proof of how much they are adored by the Ambani matriarch. The charm was designed by Shloka Mehta’s cousin Aashna Mehta who took to Instagram to reveal that the charms were commissioned by Nita Herself:

“Excited to reveal this labour of love—a bespoke Bag Bijoux masterpiece featuring the initials AKVP, meticulously crafted with rare Brazilian Paraiba tourmalines and natural diamonds, set in 18kt gold. These charms were commissioned by Mrs. Nita Ambani, with each letter representing the names of her grandchildren,” she wrote.

“Auction days are really exciting but sometimes unnerving too. Our strategy was to win back as many players as possible from our winning team of 2025. I am very excited to get Amelia Kerr back and our four Ss – Shabnim (Ismail), Saika (Ishaque), (Sajeevan) Sajana and Sanskriti (Gupta). We are very excited to welcome three young girls – Rahila Firdous, Nalla Kranthi Reddy and Triveni Vashisth. I take this opportunity to welcome Poonam Khemnar, Milly Illingworth and Nicola Carey into the Mumbai Indians family,” she said.
