Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Emmy-winning journalist Lauren Sánchez are set to celebrate their lifelong commitment in a lavish ceremony in Venice, beginning June 24. The couple has selected the historic Scuola Grande della Misericordia as their venue, and plan a three-day celebration aboard Bezos’s $500 million superyacht, Koru, anchored within the Venetian lagoon.
The estimated cost of the event ranges between $9–11 million, with approximately 200 guests, including celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, and members of the Trump family, expected to attend. Venice’s mayor, Luigi Brugnaro, has assured residents the wedding will not disrupt city life, stressing that Venice regularly handles international gatherings with far larger attendance.
The menu comprises local delicacies
In a nod to Venetian artisans, the couple has committed to sourcing 80% of their wedding goods locally, championing traditional craftsmanship. One standout is Rosa Salva, Venice’s oldest pastry shop with roots dating back to 1870. It’s been entrusted with preparing 200 customized goodie bags filled with local specialties like bussolà and zaletti — buttery biscuits and cornmeal cookies.
Antonio Rosa Salva, the bakery’s sixth-generation heir, welcomed the assignment. “It is an important recognition of my family’s long-standing tradition of baking Venetian specialties,” he said.
Bezos and Sánchez first went public in 2019, following both their divorces. They became engaged in May 2023 when Bezos presented Sánchez with a 30-carat pink diamond ring, reportedly valued between $3 million and $5 million. The ceremony marks the second marriage for both, and they’ve since become prominent philanthropic and social figures.
The festivities, spanning June 24 to June 26, will feature local gourmet food, artisan gifts, and esteemed guest entertainment, with rumours of performance by global stars, though unconfirmed.
