Rahul Garg embarked on his entrepreneurial venture by establishing Moglix, a B2B e-commerce platform aimed at streamlining the procurement supply chain for enterprises.
Beginnings, Education and Career Path
Rahul, originally from Faridabad, Haryana, came from a family entrenched in both business and academia. His father, SK Garg, held the position of Executive Director at C&S Electric, while his mother was a homemaker. Academically, Rahul claimed the top spot at Apeejay School in Faridabad. Additionally, he enthusiastically engaged in sports during his time at Carmel Convent, where he captained both the badminton and basketball teams.
He completed his Engineering in Electronics from IIT Kanpur and has an MBA degree from ISB, Hyderabad where he earned the Scholar of Excellence accolade for achieving the first rank in his batch. Additionally, he is pursuing the Business School’s Owner/President Management Program as part of Cohort 62 at Harvard Business School.
Before venturing into entrepreneurship with Moglix, Rahul held various positions at Google, including Head of AdX for India, SEA, and Korea, along with strategic roles across the APAC region, such as Head of Sales Strategy and Operations for Mobile, Media & Platforms, and Head of Search Solutions.
Entrepreneurial Journey
Driven by a vision to revolutionize the traditional supply chain, Rahul founded Moglix, offering businesses a comprehensive solution for sourcing and managing industrial goods. Despite encountering challenges while disrupting the conventional supply chain and entering the domestic market, Moglix secured its first order for safety shoes from Chennai. The company’s journey was marked by significant milestones, culminating in a Series F funding round where Moglix raised $250 million on January 25, 2022.
Rahul’s achievements and awards
Rahul’s entrepreneurial journey has garnered him a plethora of accolades, including being listed in Fortune 40 Under 40 in 2018 and receiving the Business World Young Entrepreneur Award at the Young Entrepreneur Summit & Awards in the same year. In 2019, he was honoured as Entrepreneur of the Year at the Entrepreneur India Congress & Awards. Currently, Rahul Garg leads the CII Delhi Startup Committee and serves as the Co-Chairman of the CII Unicorn Forum.
