After reporting below 40,000 new Covid-19 cases for the past 7 days and less than 30,000 for the past four days, India witnessed 30,570 new Coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking the overall Covid-19 tally to 3,33,47,325, according to data from the Union Health Ministry on Thursday. The Covid-19 death toll has climbed to 4,43,928 with 431 new fatalities. The number of active cases in the country has dropped to 3,42,923, and now comprises 1.03% of India’s total infections, the health ministry said.
According to weekly analysis of Covid-19 cases, except four, all states/UTs have seen a decline in their seven-day average of cases. Kerala, which has been contributing the most (60-70%) to India’s Covid-19 tally for the past few weeks, has seen a sharp decline in this seven-day average; from 27,673 on September 8, it has dropped to 20,079 on Wednesday. In Maharashtra, the second-biggest contributor, the average fell to 3,589 for 4,077 a week ago.
As the Covid-19 situation continues to improve in India, the Delhi government on Wednesday allowed public fairs and exhibitions from today in the city. However, the West Bengal government has extended Covid restrictions till September 30 ahead of the festivals in order to check the Covid-19 spread.

Goa’s coronavirus caseload went up by 95 and reached 1,75,183 on Thursday, while no fresh death due to the infection was reported in the state, a health department official said. The death toll remained unchanged at 3,289, he said.
The number of recovered cases in the state rose to 1,71,195 after 96 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, the official said. Goa now has 699 active cases, the official said.
“With 5,072 new coronavirus tests, the total number of tests conducted in the state has gone up to 12,84,660,” he added. Goa’s COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 1,75,183, new cases 95, death toll 3,289, discharged 1,71,195, active cases 699, samples tested till date 12,84,660. (PTI)
Jammu and Kashmir recorded 170 fresh cases of coronavirus on Thursday, taking the infected tally to 3,27,466 while no fresh death due to the virus was reported from the Union territory in the past 24 hours, officials said. Of the fresh cases, 41 were from Jammu division and 129 from Kashmir division of the UT, the officials said.
They said Srinagar district recorded the highest number of 70 cases followed by 27 cases in Budgam district. Srinagar has 698 active cases, which is the highest among the 20 districts in the UT. There are 1,421 active cases in the Union territory, while the number of recovered patients stands at 3,21,630, the officials said.
The death toll in the UT due to the pandemic was 4,415 as no fresh death was reported in the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, the officials said there were 46 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in Jammu and Kashmir as no fresh case was reported since Wednesday evening. (PTI)

Telangana on Thursday added 259 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the infection count to 6,62,785, while the death toll rose to 3,900 with one more fatality. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 72, followed by Khammam (22) and Warangal Urban (16) districts, a state government bulletin said, providing details as of 5.30 PM today.
With 301 people recuperating from the infectious disease, the cumulative number of recoveries till date was 6,53,603. Active cases stood at 5,282. It said 58,261 samples were tested on Thursday and the total number tested till date was 2,57,11,341.
The samples tested per million population were 6,90,793. The case fatality and recovery rates in the state were at 0.58 per cent and 98.61 per cent compared to 1.3 per cent and 97.61 per cent, respectively, at the national level. (PTI)

Pakistan’s coronavirus death toll crossed 27,000 on Thursday after another 66 people died in the last 24 hours, according to the official data on Thursday. In its daily bulletin, the Ministry of National Health Services said 3,012 new cases were also reported in this period, taking the confirmed cases to 1,215,821 while the death toll touched 27,004. The data showed that another 3,897 patients have recovered and with it the number of people who have completely recovered reached 1,112,236 in the country. The latest positivity rate was 5.3 per cent, which was slightly higher than 4.78 per cent of the previous day. (PTI)
Mizoram on Thursday reported 1,402 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 75,470, a Health Department official said. The new cases were detected after testing 11,599 samples in the last 24 hours, registering a positivity rate of 12.10 per cent, he said. Four more people died in the state, pushing the toll to 250, he said. Aizawl registered the highest number of new cases at 779, followed by Siaha (265) and Serchhip (78), he said. At least 242 children were among the newly-infected people, the official said. There are 13,973 active cases in the state at present, while 61,247 people have recovered, including 950 people on Wednesday. (PTI)

Seventy-seven children are among the 580 people who tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha on Thursday, pushing the tally to 10,18,298, a health department official said. The rate of infection among children and adolescents stands at 13.2 per cent, he said. Four fresh fatalities in the state raised the toll to 8,118, the official said. Khurda district, of which state capital Bhubaneswar is a part, reported the highest number of new cases at 261, followed by Cuttack at 87. Hospitals to monitor management of COVID-19 patients along with monitoring the Covid vaccination… to their parent hospitals,” the order that was issued last week said. The order also said that if any substitute of the senior nursing officers were deployed by the parent hospital, they should be relived and repatriated, it added. (PTI)
