Dana appoints R Bruce McDonald as CEO and Chairman

Dana has appointed R. Bruce McDonald as Chairman and CEO, succeeding James Kamsickas, who retired after nine years. McDonald, with over 30 years of experience, emphasized his commitment to driving value and seizing opportunities in the electric vehicle transition. Kamsickas will remain as an advisor until March 2025.

Dana has appointed R Bruce McDonald as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. He will also serve as a member of the company’s Board of Directors. He will take over the position from James Kamsickas as CEO, who has now retired after serving the company for nine years. To enable a smooth transition, Kamsickas will remain an advisor to the company till March 2025.

As he assumed his new role, McDonald emphasized his commitment to driving value for the Company, “my conviction in our businesses, the team and the opportunities to capitalize on the EV transition over the long term remains strong. I look forward to stepping into my new role as CEO at such an important time for Dana.”

Keith Wandell, Dana’s Lead Independent Director, highlighted the leadership change as part of the Company’s strategy to navigate a rapidly transforming mobility industry.

Kamsickas reflected on his tenure, stating “I am proud of the work the Dana team has done over the past decade to grow revenues and successfully enhance the technology to serve all mobility markets no matter what type of propulsion they may use.”

McDonald has 30 years experience in leadership roles

R. Bruce McDonald has over 30 years of experience in a leadership role, within the automotive and manufacturing industries. He is a member of Dana’s Board of Directors since 2014, and has previously worked on the Audit committee and chaired the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.

He is also the retired Chairman and CEO of Adient , a global mobility supplier, and has held various leadership roles at Johnson Controls, including Executive Vice President, Vice Chairman, and Executive Vice President and CFO. Earlier in his career, he served as Vice President of Finance at TRW Automotive, further establishing him with the expertise in mergers and acquisitions in the industry.
