BorgWarner has inaugurated its High Voltage Electric Propulsion Laboratory at IPEC, an electric mobility lab covering 11,580 sq. ft of ground floor space, located at PrimeCo City Whitefield Main Rd. Bangalore.

The lab is designed and built from the ground up to help BorgWarner engineers enhance product development by designing and testing electric propulsion systems which include, High voltage traction motors, inverters, DC-DC converters, and low-voltage electric drive unit components.

The lab also supports a 350KW, 400-800 V eDyno to support integrated motor and inverter systems. The lab power infrastructure supports high voltage power electronics (non-rotating), Electric machines, E-fan (rotating) etc. products. In addition, the facility has provisions to test and
verify low voltage electric drive auxiliary components for example pump motors, clutch actuators and park-lock systems.

Design based on BorgWarner global best practices and safety regulations, this lab is aimed to help:

  • BorgWarner engineers develop unique solutions and address product issues from the field to help our customers ensuring long-term local collaboration and support.
  • Innovate solutions that address both local and global customer requirements.
  • The lab will also function as a product demonstration centre for our customer in India, providing in-depth information and insights to our propulsion system solutions.
  • Functional testing and verification for High Voltage products for both local and global
  • projects.
  • The lab has already begun 800V SiC and Si-based inverter testing, with Dyno operations set to start in Q4’2024
