ChatGPT updates you can’t miss!

As ChatGPT, OpenAI’s viral AI-powered chatbot gets a big upgrade, the industry sees a more updated version of ChaGPT. On April 13, OpenAI announced that premium ChatGPT users, customers paying for ChatGPT Plus, Team or Enterprise can now leverage an updated and enhanced version of GPT-4 Turbo. GPT-4 is one of the models that powers the conversational ChatGPT experience.

Reportedly this new model (“GPT-4-turbo-2024-04-09”) is expected to make improvements in writing, math, logical reasoning and coding. OpenAI mentioned that the new feature will include a more up-to-date knowledge base. The new model was trained on publicly available data up to December 2023, compared to the previous edition of GPT-4 Turbo available in ChatGPT, which had an April 2023 cut-off.

This upgraded version is expected to allow the artificial intelligence (AI) tool to engage in more natural conversations. It is believed that the updated version is now available to premium users subscribed to ChatGPT Plus, Team or Enterprise plans. “When writing with ChatGPT [with the new GPT-4 Turbo], responses will be more direct, less verbose and use more  conversational language,” OpenAI posted on X.

Industry reacts!

Industry experts believed that users who have been using ChatGPT have surely felt that being verbose was a major eyesore in this otherwise amazing product.  Furthermore, “ It was also suspected by many that flowery and detailed language was intentionally being used to camouflage lack of depth of information on certain topics, so this announcement is welcome and we look forward to using the upgraded versions of ChatGPT for significantly enhancing our efficiency,” Amit Prasad, founder and CEO, SatNav Technologies, explained.

OpenAI is expected to refine ChatGPT to prioritise conciseness, focusing on direct communication over verbosity. By streamlining responses, ChatGPT delivers information efficiently, enhancing user experience and facilitating smoother interactions. “This approach acknowledges the value of clarity and brevity in communication, ensuring that each exchange is concise yet impactful. Through continuous refinement, ChatGPT evolves to meet user needs, delivering straightforward and effective responses tailored to diverse inquiries. The emphasis on directness not only enhances understanding but also reflects OpenAI’s commitment to optimising conversational AI for practical use cases across various domains,” Ravinder Goyal, co-founder, EREKRUT, highlighted.

Moreover, long and winding answers have been a tell-tale sign of ChatGPTs responses, often differentiating it from how humans respond. “I believe less verbose and more direct responses will make interactions with the system more human, and less arduous to consumers. However, more direct should not mean less detailed, as that may lead to overall degradation in experience. In the future ChatGPT will learn the fine balance of measuring ones words,” Ashu Kasera, co-founder, CLIRNET and DocTube, concluded.
