According to Cointelegraph, OpenAI mentioned that it would cover the legal costs for business-tier ChatGPT users who have been found guilty of copyright infringement.
OpenAI is expected to include Copyright Shield which only covers users of its business-tier ChatGPT Enterprise and its developer platform. It is believed that OpenAI isn’t covering users of the free and ChatGPT versions.
“We will step in and defend our customers and pay the costs incurred if you face legal claims around copyright infringement and this applies both to ChatGPT Enterprise and the API,” Sam Altman, CEO, OpenAI, explained.
Furthermore, OpenAI is expected to join tech firms such as Microsoft, Amazon and Google, among others, in offering to legally back users accused of copyright infringement, Cointelegraph concluded.
