The launch of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9+ flagship smartphones is just a few days away but this hasn’t stopped the leaks from pouring in. While previous leaks and reports have already given away the entire set of features and specifications of Samsung’s next-generation flagships, in addition to Samsung’s invite that focussed on the camera capabilities of the new devices, a fresh set of leaks has now surfaced revealing nearly everything about the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ including press images and colour models. Separately, the prices of Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ have once again been leaked suggesting that the devices will be costlier than their predecessors.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ specifications are already out in abundance, however, the cameras on the devices will feature dual apertures, as per a report by German website Winfuture.de. The report says that the Galaxy S9 camera will come with a 12-megapixel rear shooter having an f/1.5 and an f/2.4 apertures. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S9+ will sport a dual camera setup on the back having two 12-megapixel shooters, one of which will have dual apertures – f/1.5 and f/2.4 – while the other will feature a single aperture with f/2.4 size. In addition, the cameras on both the devices will employ enhancements for low-light photography and slow-motion capabilities, which go in line with the previously leaked specifications and Samsung’s own video teasers released last week.
Besides, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be the first among Samsung smartphones to pack the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, the report adds. However, the Snapdragon 845-powered Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ models will only be available in the US and China. Outside these two regions, Samsung will ship both the flagships with its in-house built Exynos 9810 SoC. In line with this, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ have for the first time passed the Geekbench benchmarking website where the results have turned out to be impressive. The Exynos 9810-powered Galaxy S9 scored 3,648 in single-core and 8,894 in multi-core tests while the Galaxy S9+ raked in a score of 3,773 in single-core and 9,024 in multi-core tests. These scores will secure the top position in terms of performance for both the devices among Android devices.
While the specifications and features of Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are no more a mystery, the price and availability of the smartphones are still being speculated. Previous reports have alleged that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be priced north of the predecessors Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Roland Quandt, a renowned tipster, on Monday shed light on the pricing of both the smartphones. According to his tweet, the Galaxy S9 64GB model will be priced at 8,790 kroner while the Galaxy S9+ 64GB variant will cost 9,790 kroner in Norway. In India, both these price points roughly translate to the currency equivalents of Rs 73,000 and Rs 81,000 for Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, respectively. While these are just expected prices of both the devices, the actual prices will be revealed at the launch. As far as the availability is concerned, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are expected to begin shipping from March 16, as pointed out by Evan Blass recently.
The rest of the specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ include a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Quad-HD+ Super-AMOLED displays with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The Galaxy S9 will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage while the bigger model Galaxy S9+ will pack 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage under the hood. There will be support for storage expandability via microSD card up to 400GB. Apart from the high-quality rear cameras, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will house 8-megapixel selfie cameras each on both the devices. There will be Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, USB Type-C, and wireless charging support in the devices. Both the devices will be IP68 water and dust resistant as well.
