LG is said to have begun working on its next flagship smartphone even as multiple reports claim it is planning to reboot its flagship smartphone line to choose timelines different from the traditional ones. LG is planning to launch a smartphone codenamed ‘Judy’ in June this year as its 2018 flagship smartphone. The company was previously reported to have ditched the ‘G’ naming for its next-generation smartphones, so it is unlikely that Judy – the successor to LG G6 – will commercially launch as G7.
According to a report by VentureBeat, the LG Judy will not only have topline specifications but also a new design makeover to make it look distinct from LG’s existing flagship smartphones. The specifications of LG Judy include a 6.1-inch FullVision display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Interestingly, LG is said to employ a new display material called the MLCD+ display panel, which essentially comprises of white sub-pixel in the RGBW matrix to allow brightness as high as 800 nits without consuming more power – 35 percent to be specific – than the standard IPS displays. The display will also come with support for the HDR10 technology.
The other specifications that the LG Judy will pack are a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage. It is expected to sport a dual rear camera setup (~16-megapixel) with glass optical interiors and a high aperture of f/1.6. The device will also feature IP68 water and dust resistance rating along with military standard endurance. It will also allegedly pack a set of stereo speakers and support for wireless charging, digital assistant, and voice recognition, says the report.
Apart from the specifications and features mentioned above, there is nothing much available as of now. LG is, however, preparing to launch a successor to the LG V30 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. We’ll be covering the LG launch event, so stay tuned.
