Akira box office collections: Story – A girl with an attitude and one who takes on the biggest and the baddest cops in Mumbai, fights corruption and other crime and emerges triumphant. Will that sell? With a no-prisoners taken mindset, Sonakshi Sinha makes a big scene, Anurag Kashyap is a revelation as a villainous cop, but as far as movie-goers are concerned, it did not work. In fact, this drastic female-fighter centric film has no place in the hearts of theatre-goers. (Bollywood Hungama)

Akira box office collections: According to the data filtering in, the movie's occupancy rate was as low as 15 percent. That is a shocking low and will hit the industry hard. Bollywood has been doing really well over the last few months and expectations of yet another good number stemming from this much-hyped movie would have gone a long way in boosting the industry's revenues but that will not happen now. A huge loss, indeed. (Bollywood Hungama)

Akira box office collections: Akira not being able to get the attention of the cine-goers is a problem. However, the problem mainly stems from the fact that people want strong male leads mostly and that gets their attention. Having said that, there are films like Deepika Padukone starrer Bajirao Mastani that was so successful that it even left Shahrukh Khan starrer then running in cinemas behind! Perhaps, there is more to the formula than meets the eye. (Bollywood Hungama)

Akira box office collections: Now, with empty seats in cinemas, what Akira is expected to get in terms of money is quite a restricted amount. There is not a chance at all of the movie moving into double digit numbers. In fact, getting anywhere near that is also out of the question. The best Akira makers can look forward to is Rs 5 crore, if that. Surely, the prediction too will be quite dark. While the collections are expected to increase, the Rs 10 cr mark will be nigh on impossible for the movie on Saturday and may reach the double digit marks on Sunday, provided it gets a good word-of-mouth boost, much less otherwise.
