Bollywood actor Salman Khan landed himself in yet another controversy and this time for his insensitive ‘raped woman’ remark. Khan was answering questions during an interview to promote his upcoming film Sultan which is set to release on 6 July, 2016. Salman, 50, had to undergo rigorous training for the wrestling drama and in his interview to Spotboye he allegedly said that after shooting a scene, he used to feel like a 'raped woman'. “While shooting, during those six hours, there’d be so much of lifting and thrusting on the ground involved. That was tough for me because if I was lifting, I’d have to lift the same 120-kilo guy 10 times form 10 different angles. And likewise, get thrown that many times on the ground. This act is not repeated that many times in the real fights in the ring. When I used to walk out of the ring, after the shoot, I used to feel like a raped woman. I couldn’t walk straight.” Salman Khan said. Outrage erupted instantly on social media. (Source: PTI)

Salman Khan's comments caused the National Commission for Women (NCW) to step in and seek an explanation and a public apology, giving him 7 days to obey its orders. "This is very sad. Just because he is Salman Khan doesnt mean he will make such a statement," said Lalitha Kumaramangalam (NCW Chief). However, while the NCW was speaking for tens of thousands of outraged citizens, there were many others who sought to defend Salman Khan.(Source: PTI)

Among the few who did is industry veteran, Subhash Ghai who said it was only a metaphor used by Salman. “Salman spoke about human agony, its a disgusting transaltion someone else came up with” added Ghai. Another defendant whom Times Now quoted was a Mumbai based politician who said Salman Khan will not apologise for his comment, which has added more fuel to the raging fire. (Source: IE)

While Salman Khan has not reacted at all to the storm that has broken around him, his father Salim has apologised on the actor's behalf, but that has not served to spike the controversy as this is not the first time Salim has stepped into a brewing row to try and protect his son. "To err is human to forgive divine. Today on Intl yoga day lets not run our shops on this mistake. Nevertheless, I apologise on behalf of his family his fans & his friends. Forgiveness is to pardon the unpardonable or it is no virtue at all," Salim Khan said. (Source: PTI)

Some of the others who reacted are Shaina NC, who said, "Salman should apologise. Might be slip of tongue. Nobody can say it an analogy. There is no rationale to it. Whatever the logic, Salman Khan should apologise for this. This is about ever self respecting man respecting women, not just about Salman Khan’s women fan following." Kavita Krishnan said, "Apology yes would help, but if comedians & actors say they will think about not making rape jokes in future would be better. Salman’s comment trivialises rape, but its not just Salman, rape analogies common in society & films. (Source: PTI)
