Directed by Shoojit Sircar and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan, 'Piku' was released on Friday, 8th May, and its box office collections did not exactly set things on fire. Much was expected of the movie as it starred the evergreen Amitabh Bachchan and what is more, he was backed by two of the most bankable stars in Bollywood, Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan – no one mentioned the Rs 100-crore club though.

Piku Day 4 box office collections are not so good at Rs 4.40 crore. The reason behind it was Monday, a working day, and that in turn has ensured public presence at the cinemas drops drastically. Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan movie Piku has surprised with its longevity as its box office collections keep rising at a slow but steady pace without let up and it is eyeing much more as none of the new releases last Friday are doing well. On day 9, Piku collections did very well indeed as it matched Bombay Velvet with a take of Rs 5.10 crore taking the domestic total to Rs 49.62 crore. If we add the foreign take too, Big B starrer's collections rise to Rs 61.47 crore. With new releases in theaters, especially Bombay Velvet, not doing well, Piku may well get a booster shot that elongates its lifespan and pads up its box office collections further.
