<br>Will not contest polls, says Bhagat Singh's grand nephew</br> <br>The grand nephew of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, Abhitej Singh Sandhu, today said he would continue working for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) but will not contest polls. Sandhu, who has been involved in a special campaign of AAP to associate youths with the party, told reporters that he was not a "youth icon" of AAP, though he has been given the responsibility to associate youth with the party which he wanted to "execute sincerely". Sandhu said that the struggle of those, who laid down their lives for the freedom of the country, was not against a particular section, but was against a dictatorial and cruel system. <br>Special Suvidha Express train for Raksha Bandhan</br> <br>In order to clear extra rush of passengers on the eve of Raksha Bandhan, the Northern Railways has decided to run Suvidha Express between Delhi and Lucknow in the last week of this month. New Delhi-Lucknow-New Delhi Suvidha Superfast Express special train will make a single to and fro trip, bookings for which opens tomorrow, a senior Northern Railways official said today. The fare structure in Suvidha trains, which have replaced the Premium trains since July, are higher than the normal trains. The minimum fare in Suvidha service is the Tatkal fare for the particular class, which goes up depending on the demand. Fares would increase after booking of every 20 per cent of berths, subject to maximum three times of the Tatkal fare, the official said. (PTI) (17/8/2015)</br>

"Col Pushpender Singh (Retd) and Haviladar Major Singh rpt Major Singh (Retd) have undertaken fast unto death from today," Col Anil Kaul (Retd), media advisor to the United Front of Ex-Servicemen Movement, said as the agitation at Jantar Mantar here entered the 64th day today. <br>AIPMT re-test result 2015: Haryana boy Vipul Garg tops</br> <br>AIPMT re-test result 2015, which was re-conducted on July 25 after allegations of large-scale irregularities in the first examination, were declared with 18,610 candidates placed in merit and wait list. Haryana boy Vipul Garg, whose father runs a suitcase shop in Jind, topped the AIPMT re-test result 2015 while the second position was bagged by Rajasthan's Khushi Tiwari. Vipul secured 695 marks out of 720 while Khushi scored 688, said CBSE. Both the toppers want to take admission in Maulana Azad Medical College. "I was also offered a scholarship for my medical coaching by a private coaching institute. I come from a humble family and my parents had to face lot of hardships to meet my education expenses," Vipul said. Khushi said, "I believe I had performed better in the first examination but after the answer keys for the re-test were out I was confident that I will be among the top". <br>Haryana minister questions word 'adhinayak' in national anthem</br> <br>Haryana Minister Anil Vij today questioned the presence of word 'adhinayak' in the national anthem and sought a debate on it, insisting it was like praising a dictator. "We have full respect for the national anthem, but which 'adhinayaka' are we praising in this, till date I have not been able to understand this," the outspoken Health and Sports Minister said on microblogging website Twitter. Later, when contacted, Vij said, "I feel time has come that a national debate should take place on this". "Adhinayaka ka matlab hota hein tanashah (the word adhinayak means a dictator). In democracy, there is no place for a dictator," the five-time BJP MLA from Ambala Cantonment said. It charged the basic tenets of the Constitution like secularism, justice, freedom, equality and fraternity are being compromised with and efforts are on to convert India from a secular state to one based on a particular religion. "Before visiting a mosque in some other country, it would have been better if Modi had visited a masjid in India," AIMPLB Working General Secretary Maulana Mohammad Wali Rehmani said at a press conference here. <br>Modi again attacks previous govts; Congress slams him</br> <br>PM Narendra Modi today once again attacked previous governments from foreign soil, evoking a sharp reaction from Congress which termed his "pathetic lowbrow jibes" as "abominable". Modi, while addressing business leaders of the UAE, said his govt has got some problems in legacy and his immediate priority would be to kickstart the things which were stalled by the "indecisiveness and lethargy" of the past govts. Reacting to this, Congress spokesman Sanjay Jha tweeted, "It is abominable that PM Modi continues his pathetic lowbrow jibes at opposition party when abroad. A huge embarrassment." Modi had earlier attacked Congress and its previous governments during his trips to China and Canada. Another Congress spokesman Meem Afzal said it was not proper for Modi to rake up domestic politics abroad despite repeated uproar by the opposition for his earlier such actions. <br>Yamuna crosses warning mark, govt asks people to be alert</br> <br>With the Yamuna crossing the warning mark of 204.00 metre today, Delhi government swung into action and told people residing in low-lying areas to stay alert for evacuation. Yamuna water level at 4 pm at Old Yamuna Bridge was at 204.26 metre, which is above the warning level of 204.00 meter. So far no area in Delhi is affected with the rise in the water level, officials said. Revenue Department's Deputy Commissioner (East) Kunal said the rising water levels are within the danger mark.
