Sony has slashed the price of the PlayStation 5 in India by up to Rs 13,000 following the launch of the new PS5 Slim. The Slim has technically launched at the same price as the original so it was about time Sony introduced a price cut to clear out the existing inventory. But no none had probably expected that it would be by this much.

Sony had launched the original PS5 with disc drive at a price of Rs 49,990. The price was increased by Rs 5,000 a few months later due to the “challenging economic conditions” including the high global inflation rates and adverse currency trends. On and off Sony sold the PS5 with a Rs 5,000 discount following the price revision. But its price was set at Rs 54,990.

Sony has launched the PS5 Slim with disc drive at Rs 54,990, same as the PS5. A model without the disc drive — digital edition — is available for Rs 44,990, same as the PS5 equivalent.

Sony is offering a limited period, limited quantity “Summer Promo” offer on the CFI -1208A01R model which is essentially the original PS5 “standard” standalone edition with disc drive. Starting April 10 through April 30, the PS5 will be available with a discount of “up to Rs 13,000.”
The maximum discount is obviously reserved for a console-game bundle. For instance, the PS5-Cricket 2024 bundle is available for Rs 44,990, the PS5-EA Sports FC 24 bundle is available for Rs 46,390 — both down Rs 13,000 from their original price. The Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 limited edition is also available with a Rs 13,000 discount for Rs 49,990. The standalone console is available with Rs 10,000 discount and so, it is listed for Rs 44,990. Sony’s promo offer is also available across Amazon, Blinkit, Croma, Flipkart, Reliance, Vijay Sales and other participating retailers. Chances are you’ll be able to snag the console at even lower prices online, for instance, on Amazon the PS5 is selling for Rs 44,490 at the time of writing.
Sony says the offer will be available until stocks last and since, this is the best time to buy the PlayStation 5 in India, you better hurry if you’ve got your eyes set on the console. The offer does not cover the digital PS5.
