These days, with high exposure to online activities, there’s an increased threat of malwares. Cyber security agencies have always advised to prevent clicking any unknown links as it can create malfunctions in the phones. A cyber security company, F-Secure recently published a report on Spynet app on Android mobile phones. As per the report, Spynet app, when installed, can read and collect user’s data without their consent.
The app is not available on the Google Play Store therefore, Google does not save your phone from this suspicious app. The application enters the mobile only when a user clicks a harmful link sent through SMS, also called smishing. The spyware app can collect data including call logs, SMS, internal storage, and camera logs, and even record voice calls.
The novel spyware is more smarter than the usual scam links as one can not find any trace of the app on the phone that left us with limited safe to solve the problem. Spynet’s ability to be started from an outside source is another terrifying aspect of it. It has been reported that it is quite challenging to delete the Spynet software from a phone once it has been installed. In certain cases, a phone reset would be required to remove the Spynet program completely.
Spynet is just one of the few known spywares so far and we would need to be more cautious while clicking any links sent to us. We should also avoid referring to unknown websites that might carry malware functionality for better phone security. It is also advised to always update your software and security, and take caution before clicking on a link sent to you over SMS or other instant messaging service by an unauthorized sender.
