Vivo V40 Pro, the new premium V-series phone from Vivo, brings a slew of upgrades over its predecessor, V30 Pro. It has a new, more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9200 Plus processor, bigger 5,500mAh battery, and a brighter screen. The cameras are getting a big revamp in this generation with new sensors and new lenses while continuing to benefit from ZEISS co-engineering. Joining the V40 Pro is the V40 which is also getting the ZEISS upgrade, though it has fewer, less powerful cameras. The V40 Pro also brings several other quality of life improvements including HDR support and stereo speakers. Vivo is promising longer software support as well.

1. Design, build: The V40 Pro has a glass back and side frame made of plastic. Vivo does not specify the type of glass. The phone is quite slim and light— 7.58mm and 192g. It is IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. There are two colours to pick from—Ganges Blue and Titanium Gray.
2. Display: The V40 Pro has a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and hole punch cutout at the centre. Vivo claims the panel can peak 4,500 nits and supports HDR content. The screen is protected by Schott glass.
3. Processor: The V40 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 Plus processor.   
4. Memory: It comes in a choice of 8GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB.
5. Software: The V40 Pro comes with Android 14-based Funtouch OS 14. Vivo is committing to three major OS and up to four years of security updates.
6. Cameras: The V40 Pro has a trio of sensors on the back including a 50-megapixel main Sony IMX921 (OIS), 50-megapixel ultrawide, and another 50-megapixel 2x telephoto. The front camera is another 50-megapixel, with autofocus.
