Sony Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra, Xperia L2 price, shipping dates revealed

After launching the smartphones at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 earlier this month, Sony has now unveiled the prices of Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra, and Xperia L2 along with their shipping dates.

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018, Sony launched three new entrants to its Xperia smartphone lineup – Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra, and Xperia L2. The company showed off the features and specifications of all the three devices, it did not divulge their price and availability details. Sony has now unveiled the prices of Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra, and Xperia L2 along with their shipping dates.

The Sony Xperia XA2 has been priced at $349.99 (roughly Rs 22,300); the Xperia XA2 Ultra at $449.99 (roughly Rs 28,700), and the Xperia L2 will sell for $249.99 (roughly Rs 16,000). All three smartphones will go on sale in the US where Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra will start selling from February 16 while the Xperia L2 shipping will start from February 19. US retailer BestBuy has listed the smartphones on its website.

Besides, a UK retailer Clove has listed all the three smartphones for sale on its website. According to the listings, the Sony Xperia XA2 will be available in the UK at 299 British pounds (roughly Rs 27,000) from February 12, while the Xperia XA2 Ultra will be sold at 379 British pounds (roughly Rs 34,200) starting from February 5. The Sony Xperia L2, on the other hand, is currently on sale on the website at a price of 199 British pounds (roughly Rs 18,000).

As for the India pricing and availability, Sony is expected to follow its previous launch timeline when the Xperia XA1 was available in India in April while the Xperia XA1 Ultra was released in July last year. The Sony Xperia L1, however, did not make it to the Indian markets.

For the specifications, the Sony Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra are the mid-rangers that differ slightly specifications-wise. The Sony Xperia XA2 sports a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920) display with a resolution of 424ppi, whereas the Xperia XA2 Ultra has a 6-inch full-HD (1080×1920) display having a 367ppi resolution. Coming to the storage, the Xperia XA2 has a single 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant, while the Xperia XA2 Ultra offers two variants – 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage and 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage. The storage on both the smartphones can be expanded further up to 256GB via microSD card.

Moving to other specifications, both Sony Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor. Both the smartphones carry same rear camera modules – 23-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture and flashlight. However on the front, the Sony Xperia XA2 sports an 8-megapixel camera that can take wide-angle selfies using its 120-degree lens, while the Xperia XA2 Ultra houses a dual camera setup on the front that includes one 16-megapixel shooter and one 8-megapixel shooter. It’s worth mentioning that the wide-angle selfies in Xperia XA2 Ultra will be taken only with the latter. Both the smartphones come running Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. The Sony Xperia XA2 packs a 3300mAh battery under the hood, while the Xperia XA2 Ultra draws its juice from a 3580mAh battery. Both the smartphones have the standard set of connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 4G support, OTG, fingerprint scanner, and Micro-USB support.

Coming to the specifications of the Sony Xperia L2, it belongs to the entry-level category but is claimed to take wide-angle selfies with the same 120-degree lens. The Sony Xperia L2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of inbuilt storage. The storage can be expandable up to 256GB using a microSD card. As we mentioned, the Xperia L2 features a 120-degree lens 8-megapixel wide-angle selfie camera, while at the rear, it has a 13-megapixel camera with LED flash. It houses a 3300mAh battery and runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back of the smartphone. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 4G support, OTG support, and Micro-USB among others.
