Sony has announced that it will be discontinuing its integration with X, formerly Twitter, for its PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles. It means that users will no longer be able to post screenshots and clips to X directly from these gaming platforms. The change is set to take effect from November 13, 2023.
The news of this integration termination was shared by Sony through a support message on its official website. The message stated, “As of November 13, 2023, integration with X (formerly known as Twitter) will no longer function on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles.” This includes the inability to view content published on X from the PS5/PS4 and the loss of the ability to post and view content, trophies, and other gameplay-related activities directly from the consoles or link an X account for these purposes.

Sony did not provide specific details regarding the reasons behind this decision. Speculation suggests it could be related to changes in X’s API pricing introduced earlier in the year. However, the company has not officially confirmed any such connection.
For users who still wish to share their captures from the PS5 or PS4 on social media platforms, Sony has pointed to support documents on its website that explain how to transfer and share content externally.
Additionally, the PlayStation app on the PS5 is recommended as a suitable alternative for grabbing capturing screen, enabling users to easily share their gaming experiences elsewhere.
Sony’s decision comes after Microsoft in April when they disabled Xbox clip sharing to X from both consoles and PCs.
