July 2024 smartphone launches to watch out for.

If you thought June was crazy, wait till you find out, what July has in store. If we were to put it subtly, July promises to be “epic” with Samsung poised to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 —its next batch of foldable devices — at Unpacked in Paris, the same place that’s set to host the 2024 summer Olympics from July 26.

A day before Samsung’s high-profile Unpacked event, on June 9, Xiaomi will celebrate its 10-year-anniversary in India with the launch of the Redmi 13 5G and perhaps a few other products. A day before Xiaomi’s event, on June 8, Nothing sub-brand CMF, will launch its first smartphone—CMF Phone 1. The Phone 1 will be joined by the CMF Buds Pro 2 and Watch Pro 2.

Motorola will meanwhile launch its Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 challenger, Moto Razr 50 Ultra, on July 4. Realme has started teasing the Realme 13 Pro series with big focus on AI and photography, though the exact date of launch is yet to be announced. Honor is also gearing to launch the Honor 200 series soon. Again, we don’t know the launch date yet, but with the series listing going live on Amazon India, more details should follow anytime now.

Here’s a quick rundown of all the big smartphones launches in July 2024:

  1. Motorola Razr 50 Ultra: The Moto Raza 50 Ultra is set to launch in India on July 4, nearly a week before Samsung unveils its Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 at the Paris Unpacked event. Its key USP feature is its large 4-inch cover display, which is the largest in its class at the time of writing. The cover screen is of high quality, too, featuring LTPO technology and a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz. The phone boasts a 6.9-inch inner folding pOLED display with a 1080p resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. This panel can reach up to 3,000 nits in brightness and supports Dolby Vision content. The front of the device houses a 32-megapixel selfie camera in a hole-punch cutout, while the back features a dual-camera setup with a 50-megapixel f/1.7 wide lens and another 50-megapixel 2x telephoto lens. Under the hood, the Moto Razr 50 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, paired with a 4,000mAh battery that supports 44W fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging. The device runs on Motorola’s MyUX software based on Android 14.
  2. CMF Phone 1: Nothing is gearing to launch its first smartphone under the CMF sub-brand on July 8. Like other Nothing products, the CMF Phone 1, too, will make standout design quirks more accessible. Nothing in fact mentions that it will serve as an “entry point to our entire product ecosystem” hinting that it could be cheaper than its current most affordable phone—the Phone 2a. It will boast of user replaceable back panel with removable screws on the outside. It looks like Nothing will sell back panels separately to allow for customisation. Spec-wise, the CMF Phone 1 is confirmed to arrive with a Super AMOLED display and the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor under the hood.
  3. Redmi 13 5G: Xiaomi will launch the budget-centric Redmi 13 5G on July 9. The Redmi 13 5G has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor. It appears to have a single camera on the rear with an 108-megapixel sensor. The phone is powered by a 5,030mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging. A big USP feature of the Redmi 13 5G is the software. It will be the first Redmi phone in its class to launch with Xiaomi’s HyperOS.
  4. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6: For the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the leaks highlight a new, wider aspect ratio for both the inner and outer displays, along with a squarer overall design. The bezels on the outer display appear smaller, and the hinge is tipped to be notably slimmer than previous models. Spec-wise, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to feature a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a resolution of 2160 x 1856 pixels. The outer display may be a 6.3-inch screen with a resolution of 986 x 2376 pixels. One of the significant changes is the reduced weight of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which reportedly will weigh 239g compared to the 253g of the Z Fold 5. The device is rumoured to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, potentially paired with up to 12GB of RAM. In terms of camera capabilities, the Z Fold 6 might feature a triple camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, the device could offer a 10MP cover camera and a 4MP under-display sensor on the inside. The battery is expected to be a 4,400mAh unit with support for 25W fast charging.
  5. iQOO Z9 Lite: The iQOO Z9 Lite is set to launch in India on July 15. iQOO has confirmed that it will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. If history is repeated, the iQOO Z9 Lite could be a rebranded Vivo T3 Lite.
