The OnePlus Ace 3 is official in China, per schedule. The Ace 3 is interesting in many ways. Not only does it come with a bevy of high-end specs at a very aggressive pricing, but it is also set to launch globally, India included, as the OnePlus 12R on January 23. Considering how sought-after the OnePlus 11R was— it still is— it is safe to presume the 12R/Ace 3 is duly awaited and has some big shoes to fill while at it, too.
Let’s get pricing out of way before diving into the hardware because frankly speaking, we’re not sure how OnePlus plans to make money on this phone. The Ace 3 starts at CNY 2,599 for a version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. This roughly translates to Rs 31,000 after a straight-up conversion to INR. The Ace 3 also comes in a choice of 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB for CNY 2,999 (roughly Rs 35,700) and CNY 3,499 (roughly Rs 41,000), respectively.
And now, the specs. The China-bound Ace 3 comes with a 6.78-inch “3D AMOLED” LTPO display with a 1.5K resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate. The panel can peak a whopping 4,500 nits and supports Dolby Vision playback natively. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. OnePlus has also put its wet touch technology in the phone and so, the touch response should theoretically work when exposed to splashes (there seems to be no official IP rating).
Powering the Ace 3 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and what is being billed as the biggest battery on any OnePlus phone to date— this is 5,500mAh. The phone charges through USB Type-C and can fast charge at up to 100W with the bundled charger. Running the show is Oppo’s ColorOS 14 software based on Android 14.
For photography, the Ace 3 has a triple camera setup on the rear headlined by a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 main sensor behind an optically stabilised lens, paired to an 8-megapixel ultrawide and another 2-megapixel macro. On the front, it has a 16MP camera for selfies.
The Ace 3 has a body made of glass and frame made from metal. The phone will be available in three shades— blue, gray, and bronze.
