But should you wait for the OnePlus 15R? Should existing OnePlus 13R buyers opt for an upgrade in less than a year? Should prospective buyers of the OnePlus 13R wait and choose the OnePlus 15R instead? Let’s find out.

OnePlus 15R vs OnePlus 13R: Battery and charging

The biggest rumoured upgrade is in the power department. The OnePlus 15R is expected to feature a colossal 7,800mAh battery cell, a major jump from the 6,000mAh unit in the 13R, and even larger than the 7,300mAh battery in the flagship OnePlus 15. Furthermore, the 15R is likely to support 120W wired charging but may miss out on wireless charging.

OnePlus 15R vs OnePlus 13R: Performance

The OnePlus 15R is reportedly a rebranded version of the OnePlus Ace 6. This suggests it will be powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which is a full generational jump from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 found in the 13R, thus ensuring top-tier performance for gaming and demanding apps. Along with the new OxygenOS 16 and its myriad of AI features, this should be an enthusiast’s dream.

OnePlus 15R vs OnePlus 13R: Design and Durability

The design of the OnePlus 15R is expected to move away from the circular camera module of the OnePlus 13R in favour of a squarish camera deco, aligning it with the premium OnePlus 15 aesthetic.

Crucially, the OnePlus 15R will feature significantly improved durability, boasting an IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K rating for dust and water resistance, a considerable upgrade from the OnePlus 13R’s basic IP65 rating.

The display is also slated for an upgrade. The OnePlus 15R is rumoured to feature a 6.7-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with an ultra-smooth 165Hz refresh rate, bringing its screen quality on par with the higher-end OnePlus 15. The predecessor only featured a 120Hz refresh rate.

OnePlus 15R vs OnePlus 13R: Action Key

Following the trend set by the main flagship, the OnePlus 15R is expected to include a customisable Action Key. This dedicated button can be programmed for various functions, including instantly accessing the new Mind Space feature, which uses AI to quickly capture and manage information.
