While earlier rumours pointed to this being the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra, the company appears to be positioning it as the icon for a standalone, luxury-focused series.

Motorola is preparing to introduce an entirely new premium smartphone lineup in India, moving beyond its premium Edge series. A fresh teaser on Flipkart has confirmed the arrival of the Motorola Signature series, signalling a strategic shift for the brand as it aims to compete with top-tier flagship devices.

Flipkart recently went live with an app-only microsite featuring the tagline, “Signature Class is Coming Soon!” While the brand was initially obscured, visual cues such as Motorola’s iconic batwing logo and its long-standing partnership with Pantone left little doubt about the manufacturer. A follow-up message on the site urges users to “Come back on 28th Dec,” hinting at a major reveal this Sunday, just ahead of the year-end.

The rebranding: From Edge to Signature

Industry insiders suggest that the upcoming Signature series is a rebranding of the device previously codenamed “Urus.” While earlier rumours pointed to this being the Motorola Edge 70 Ultra, the company appears to be positioning it as the icon for a standalone, luxury-focused series.

Leaked renders from prominent tipster Evan Blass show the device in two sophisticated colourways: Carbon and Martini Olive. The design highlights a departure from previous models, featuring a squircle-shaped rear camera module and a textured, vegan leather-like back panel. Notably, some renders include a stylus, suggesting that the Signature phone may support stylus input — a move that would place it in direct competition with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Flagship power and pro-grade imaging

Though official details are still under wraps, multiple leaks and benchmark listings provide a glimpse into a high-performance spec sheet:

Processor: The device is expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.

Display: A 6.7-inch OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Memory and software: Listings on Geekbench point to 16GB of RAM and the phone running Android 16 out of the box.

Camera: A triple 50MP setup on the rear, reportedly led by a Sony Lytia sensor with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and a periscope telephoto lens for advanced zoom capabilities.

Motorola Signature to focus on innovation

The marketing campaign emphasises a return to Motorola’s roots while looking forward. One teaser reminds consumers that “back in 1973, Motorola gave the world its first portable phone,” concluding that “innovation became our signature.”
