With Samsung and Apple throwing the gauntlet in the slim phone category this year, Motorola was eager to take the challenge. Hence, for what appears to be its next-gen Edge 70 series, the Lenovo-owned brand is now eager to show how slim it can go. The Moto X70 Air, revealed ahead of its China launch, flaunts a slim candybar-style form factor with the traditional Motorola design cues.

The X70 Air, which is expected to compete with the iPhone Air and Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, prioritises sleek design and lightweight performance, signaling a major shift in the premium mobile market. It is indeed a change from other brands simply mimicking the Liquid Glass aesthetics from iOS 26.

The Moto X70 Air will launch in China on October 31, followed by a global debut as the Motorola Edge 70 on November 5. Since it is built to a price, the X70 Air doesn’t go as slim as the iPhone Air’s 5.6mm thickness. Instead, Motorola sticks with a slightly thicker 5.99mm body that weighs a lot less at 159g.

Moto X70 Air/ Moto Edge 70 specifications at a glance

Despite its slim frame, the X70 Air does not compromise on core specifications. It is powered by the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset that runs Android 16 out of the box. It features a 6.7-inch 1.5K pOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate – something that’s a standard affair for Motorola midrange phones in the market.

However, Motorola managed to pack in a robust 4,800mAh battery with support for 68W wired and 15W wireless charging. This contrasts sharply with the 3,900mAh battery of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, hinting that the Moto X70 Air may offer superior endurance without the added bulk.

The camera hump is where the device is at its thickest. The squarish hump holds three camera sensors, out of which two are 50MP sensors taking care of wide and ultrawide sensors. Motorola hasn’t revealed anything about the charging specifications as well as the colour variants.

Motorola is yet to reveal the price and some of the other basic specifications and features of the device. However, the phone is expected to be released as the Edge 70 in global markets, competing with more affordable midrange devices.
