Motorola has announced its next big flagship phone, Motorola Edge 50 Pro. Of course, this is the name of the India-bound model. The same phone will sell under the name of Motorola X50 Ultra in China and Motorola Edge Plus 2024 in the US. Motorola’s China wing has confirmed the chip inside while in India, the Lenovo-owned brand has shared almost all major details from design to top specs and AI features. While the exact launch date remains unclear, we can expect an announcement on or around April 3, the same day, it’s seemingly launching another phone (likely a Fusion model) with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3.

The X50 Ultra is confirmed to come with the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, which given its positioning stacks it second to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The choice of chip is surely intriguing but Motorola’s wing is going above and beyond the hardware specs to focus on AI. The Edge 50 Pro will come with several “intelligent” camera features including adaptive stabilisation, auto focus tracking, AI photo enhancement, and tilt mode. The main camera will use an unspecified 50-megapixel sensor. The Edge 50 Pro will also feature a 10-megapixel telephoto for 50x hybrid zoom.

Elsewhere, the Edge 50 Pro is confirmed to come with a 6.7-inch pOLED screen with a 1.5K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. Motorola is promising up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness and support for HDR10+ playback. The phone will come with an in-display fingerprint reader. The display will further be validated by Pantone, which are also Motorola’s partners for the Edge 50 Pro’s colour choices. The Edge 50 Pro will come in three colours.

It will be sold across Flipkart, Motorola online, and retail stores as and when it launches in India. Watch this space for more details.
