Meta Platforms (META) is reportedly in discussions to acquire South Korean AI chip startup FuriosaAI, with a deal potentially closing as early as this month, according to John Kang of Forbes, citing sources familiar with the matter. Meta is among multiple companies interested in acquiring FuriosaAI, a source told Forbes. The acquisition could strengthen Meta’s custom chip development efforts amid an ongoing Nvidia (NVDA) chip shortage and increasing demand for alternative solutions.
