Amidst the widespread riots in Los Angeles, Downtown Los Angeles descended into chaos on Monday night and a prominent Apple Store became a prime target for masked individuals. What began as peaceful protests against recent immigration raids escalated into widespread looting and vandalism, affecting the Apple Store in Downtown, LA. Videos circulating widely on social media show dozens of masked looters in dark hoodies smashing windows and rushing into the Apple Store on West 8th Street and Broadway, making off with in-store electronic devices and other merchandise.

The looters also took to painting graffiti across the damaged storefront, reflecting the underlying tensions of the demonstrations.

The incident at the Apple Store was not isolated. Reports indicate that multiple other businesses in the downtown area, including Adidas outlets, pharmacies, marijuana dispensaries, and jewellery stores, were also ransacked.

The unrest, which entered into its fourth consecutive day, is a result of stepped-up immigration enforcement actions by the Trump administration since last Friday, resulting in numerous arrests. Reports suggest that while daylight hours saw largely peaceful gatherings, the situation deteriorated significantly after nightfall.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass wrote on social media, “Let me be clear: ANYONE who vandalized Downtown or looted stores does not care about our immigrant communities. You will be held accountable.”

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has made multiple arrests in connection with the overnight violence. One woman in particular was arrested for the burglary at the Apple Store and two other individuals for looting.
