Reliance Jio has launched the JioPhone Prima 2 4G, a smart feature phone equipped with a Qualcomm processor and native support for apps like Facebook and YouTube. The Prima 2 4G is a follow-up to last year’s Prima 4G. The model was spotted selling on Amazon India recently. The formal listing page is live on Jio’s website now confirming the JioPhone Prima 2 4G launch in India.

The Prima 2 is a 4G feature phone with an unspecified 4-core Qualcomm chip under the hood. It has 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. This is expandable by another 128GB using a micro-SD card slot. The Prima 2 4G is a single-SIM phone locked to the Jio network which is to say that it only works with a Jio SIM card.
The display is a 2.4-inch TFT LED while battery capacity is 2,000mAh. The phone has a camera on both the front as well as on the back. The back camera is a 0.3-megapixel. With JioCall, the Prima 2 can make video calls without needing any separate app, Jio claims. The phone in fact ships with a bunch of Jio apps including JioTV, JioCinema and JioSaavn for entertainment, JioNews for news, and JioPay for making UPI (short for Unified Payments Interface) payments. Third-party apps like Facebook and YouTube are also included.
The Prima 2 4G runs Kai OS version 2.5.3 software, which is a fork of Firefox OS. Jio also touts support for up to 23 languages and Google Assistant for quick answers to queries from the internet.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE and Bluetooth 4.2. The phone has a headphone jack, too, plus LED torch for added convenience for when you need it. The Prima 2 4G comes in sole luxe blue colour with a leather-like finish on the back.

The Prima 2 4G is available at a price of Rs 2,799 from Amazon and JioMart. The original Prima 2 continues to sell at its launch price of Rs 2,599.
