JioFiber, AirFiber postpaid users will get two years of free YouTube Premium subscription, Reliance Jio announced today. The announcement was made through a post on X (formerly Twitter) and the changes have started reflecting on Jio’s website and mobile app at the time of writing.
Jio has been actively promoting its fiber services, particularly Jio AirFiber, with lucrative incentives over the last one year or so. Addition of free YouTube Premium adds a bit of extra appeal going by the nature and sheer scale of the Google-owned video sharing platform. The move is expected to give Jio a big shot in the arm to pull in more customers toward JioFiber and AirFiber, driving growth.
While JioFiber delivers high-speed internet to your home through fiber optic cables, AirFiber provides a similar wireless experience, using 5G technology. In areas where setting up wired connections is challenging; the latter serves to bring seamless connectivity without the need for cables.
JioFiber, AirFiber free YouTube Premium service rollout
Jio now offers two years of free YouTube Premium with select JioFiber and AirFiber postpaid plans starting at Rs 888. Though there are cheaper plans, Rs 399 in case of Jio AirFiber and Rs 599 for JioFiber, Rs 888 is the minimum threshold to get free YouTube Premium at the time of writing.
More specifically, the offer is available to JioFiber and AirFiber postpaid users who are active on the following plans:
JioFiber: Rs 888 (30 Mbps), Rs 1199 (100 Mbps), Rs 1499 (300 Mbps), Rs 2499 (500 Mbps), and Rs 3999 (1 Gbps)
AirFiber: Rs 888 (30 Mbps), Rs 1199 (100 Mbps), Rs 1499 (300 Mbps), Rs 2499 (500 Mbps), Rs 3999 (1 Gbps), and Rs 8499 (1 Gbps)
YouTube Premium subscription is worth Rs 149 per month for an individual plan and Rs 299 for family. The benefit over free YouTube includes access to ad-free videos and YouTube Music Premium. The service also lets paying customers download videos to watch later, even without an internet connection and listen to music and podcasts even when your phone screen is off.
If you’re an eligible JioFiber or AirFiber user, you should receive communication from Jio about claiming your free YouTube Premium subscription. You can also check the MyJio app for details. Jio does not specify if this is a limited-time or long-term offer.
