Is Apple launching new MacBooks, iPads and a new Vision Pro this week? With October well underway, rumours of new Apple launches are all over the news. Unlike the mega September event that debuted the flashy new iPhones, Apple’s October releases are expected to be quieter, with silent releases of the products. Industry analysts are pointing to the imminent rollout of new versions of the iPad Pro, the entry-level MacBook Pro, and the Vision Pro headset.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, an industry analyst who has a reliable track record of giving us reliable information about Apple’s unreleased products, suggests that new Apple products are coming up sooner than expected, with October reserved for the Macs and iPads. Unlike major generation changes, these are expected to be spec bumps under the hood to keep them relevant. The core focus remains on the M5 chip, with three devices expected to debut Apple’s next-gen computing chip. There are talks of a Vision Pro upgrade coming this year too!

Apple October launches expected soon: What’s coming

14-inch MacBook Pro

The entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro is reportedly ‘ready for launch’ and will integrate the M5 processor. However, this is said to be the base MacBook Pro only, as Apple is likely to reserve the more premium 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips early next year.

For the immediate release, the MacBook Pro’s design language and core features will remain unchanged. More dramatic hardware upgrades, such as the introduction of advanced OLED displays, built-in touchscreen support, 5G capabilities, and the move to the next-generation M6 chip, are being reserved for next year’s launch.

M5 iPad Pro

The next-generation iPad Pro will be powered by the new M5 chip and is set to feature a minimum of 12GB of RAM as standard. While the tablet’s physical design remains largely unchanged, the performance upgrade is substantial. Leaked benchmark data suggests multi-core CPU output to be up to 12 per cent faster and GPU performance to be 36 per cent faster than the M4 model. Some leaks also suggest a dual front-camera setup for enhanced video calling.

And finally, the updated Vision Pro

The updated Apple Vision Pro headset is expected to get its first upgrade with the M5 chip. The M5 chip is expected to improve the AR performance as well as general app loading times. The refresh is also rumoured to focus on user comfort and aesthetics by introducing a new Dual Knit Band and a sleek Space Black colour option.
