Samsung on Friday said the company is committed to bring AI (artificial intelligence) and hyperconnectivity to its consumers in India, as the country is the next big playground for AI.
“AI will enable connected technologies to improve people’s daily lives while always remaining non-intrusive and in the background,” said JH Han, vice chairman, CEO and head of the device experience (DX) division at Samsung Electronics.
Han, who visited Samsung’s store at Jio World Plaza at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai, said, “India is one of the biggest and fastest-growing markets globally and offers a huge opportunity for Samsung.”
Han’s comments come at a time when smartphone companies are focusing on bringing AI features to devices and the trend is moving towards premiumisation.
Samsung has the largest market share of 18% in the smartphone market of the country.
In fact, as part of its ‘AI for All’ vision, Samsung in January unveiled Galaxy AI in its new Galaxy S24 smartphone series.
“India has a large population of tech-savvy young consumers that inspire us to innovate,” Han said. “Here, thousands of young, enterprising youth work at our R&D centres to bring cutting edge technologies such as AI to the world. We are proud of them,” he added.
After Apple, Samsung recently inaugurated the connected lifestyle experience store at BKC where consumers can experience ‘One Samsung’. This includes Samsung’s latest AI innovations and connected devices ecosystem.
Han said, Samsung has an “open collaboration” model through which it wants to democratise AI and bring connectivity for all consumers.
