October is the month for all those who find solace in watching the sky and celestial bodies, as we get to witness the annual solar eclipse and lunar eclipse in the same month. Humans love to knit stories around these celestial events, but let’s know the scientific reason behind them and a list of websites where you can admire this science magic at your fingertips.

According to NASA, the annual solar eclipse will be seen on October 14. During a solar eclipse, the moon appears small and partially hides the giant sun, so that naked eyes can only see the peripheries of the sun. The view is called the ‘ring of fire’ as one can only see the rim of the bright sun, and the center is hidden by the moon.

On the other hand, the world will witness a lunar eclipse on October 28. It is a phenomenon when the planet Earth gets in between the Sun and the Moon, leaving a shadow of Earth on the Moon’s surface. A lunar eclipse can be seen from anywhere when the moon is above the horizon, including Asia, Russia, Africa, the Americas, Europe, Antarctica, and Oceania.
