Rockstar Games, the studio behind the legendary open-world series, confirmed last week that GTA 6 will not be arriving on its previously expected schedule. Players who were eagerly awaiting a May 2026 debut will now need to wait a little longer. According to the company, the launch has been pushed back to allow additional development time, giving the team the opportunity to refine the game and deliver an experience that lives up to the massive anticipation surrounding it.

GTA 6 Storyline

Unlike GTA 5, which let players switch between three characters, GTA 6 is expected to centre on a duo of main protagonists — a first for the series. The lead characters, reportedly named Jason and Lucia, are said to share a Bonnie-and-Clyde-inspired partnership, adding a new emotional and narrative twist to the game. Their journey unfolds in a reimagined Vice City, now part of a much larger region known as Leonida, giving players a fresh setting that expands on the world first introduced in Vice City Stories.

GTA 6 Gameplay Enhancements

Rockstar has always balanced realism with arcade-style fun, and GTA 6 is rumoured to push immersion even further. Speculation points to revamped physics, upgraded driving mechanics, and smarter NPC behaviour that makes police chases more intense and unpredictable. The wanted system is also expected to be revamped. Many everyday interactions — like purchasing items or engaging with the environment — may now require manual input, hinting at a more hands-on, detail-rich gameplay style and a world that feels more alive and reactive.

GTA 6 Expected Pricing

Although Rockstar has not revealed official pricing, early leaks indicate that the base version could cost around $100 (roughly Rs 8,700), with premium editions carrying a higher price tag. The PC edition, whenever announced, is likely to demand powerful hardware due to the game’s cutting-edge visuals and advanced physics engine.

For now, Rockstar has only confirmed GTA 6 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with no details yet on a PC launch or system requirements.
