Taking cross-platform communication to next-level, Google has posted a new advertisement highlighting the integration of its Rich Communication Services (RCS) with Apple’s upcoming iOS 18.

This new feature aims to enhance the messaging experience between iPhone and Android users by resolving several long-standing issues.

The 30-second ad, featured on the Android YouTube channel, underscores the major benefits of RCS coming to iPhone users with the release of iOS 18 this fall. The advertisement emphasises three key improvements- higher resolution media, improved group chats and customisable read receipts.

RCS will enable the transfer of high-resolution images and videos between Android and iPhone users, thanks to a cloud-based backend that minimises compression and quality loss. The integration will allow users to leave group chats, addressing one of the common frustrations experienced in cross-platform messaging. Lastly, users will have the option to enable or disable read receipts and typing indicators, offering greater control over their messaging experience.

The ad concludes with the tagline, “Better photos, videos, group chats messaging for everyone with RCS,” aiming to attract Android users and highlight the upcoming improvements. The integration of RCS into iOS 18 is expected to be a game-changer for cross-platform communication, bringing enhanced functionality and smoother interactions.

For those eager to experience these updates, the iOS 18 beta is already available, but the full rollout is anticipated around September. However, users should be aware that the availability of RCS support may vary by region and carrier.
