Google finally took the wraps off from its new Pixel series today. The Pixel 9 series, aka Pixel 2024 series, includes three phones – Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. The new Pixel phones come with significant upgrades over last year’s Pixel 8 series, especially in the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL.
The new Pixel series comes integrated with Google’s advanced AI assistant Gemini that comes handy for tasks like writing emails, planning, and finding information across Google apps and more. Further the phones come with a new feature called Pixel Screenshots that makes it easy to organise and retrieve details from screenshots, streamlining the process of remembering and accessing key information.
The Pixel 9 series comes with security features, including Emergency SOS for quick assistance, private space for confidential apps and content, and advanced tools for verifying image authenticity. There’s also automatic device locking in case of suspicious activity and the ability to lock the phone remotely to protect users’ sensitive data.
Pixel 9 Pro Details
Google calls it the most powerful and sophisticated Pixel smartphone yet. At the core of the Pixel 9 Pro is the new Tensor G4 processor, supported by 16 GB of RAM. The Pixel 9 Pro also comes with a complimentary one-year subscription to the Google One AI Premium plan and 2 TB of cloud storage.
The camera system includes triple camera set up – a 50 MP main lens, a versatile 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and another 48-megapixel 5x telephoto lens. The selfies are looked after by a 42 MP sensor. For the first time, Super Res Zoom extends to video, enabling up to 8K video enhancement with Video Boost.
The Pixel 9 Pro is available in two sizes: 6.3 inches and 6.8 inches, both featuring the Super Actua LTPO display. It comes with 16 GB of RAM and storage options of 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB. It comes in Obsidian, Porcelain, Hazel, and Rose Quartz colors, offers 7 years of OS and security updates, and runs on Android 14.
The Pixel 9 Pro has a 4,700mAh battery while the Pixel 9 Pro XL has a larger 5,060mAh battery. Both phones support 45W fast wired as well as Qi wireless charging.

The Pixel 9 is the most affordable one priced at Rs 79,999, followed by the Pixel 9 Pro at Rs 109,999 and the Pixel 9 Pro XL at Rs 124,999. Pre-orders for the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL begin on August 14. The devices will be available across Flipkart, Reliance Digital, and Croma.
