The latest version of X app will have three subscription tiers- Premium Basic, Premium Standard and Premium Plus.

Elon Musk’s ambitious plans for the X Platform (formerly known as Twitter) have been making headlines since the billionaire acquired the social network last year. With a vision to reshape it into a multifaceted mega app, Musk is planning further more changes to the platform. There are talks that the micro-blogging company wants to introduce a multi-tiered X Premium service that will offer users an ad-free experience.

According to a researcher Aaron, the latest version of X app will have three subscription tiers- Premium Basic, Premium Standard and Premium Plus. The basic tier will show full ads, the standard will show half ads while the Plus tier will have no ads at all.

X Premium is the paid service from X previously known as Blue subscription. Those subscribing to X Premium will get access to some exclusive features such as edit post button, longer posts and videos and more. The X Premium subscribers may see lesser ads compared to users who don’t pay for X. With the upcoming change, if it actualises, will fully remove ads from the platform. However, X will charge more for this subscription.

X Premium currently costs Rs 900 a month while the annual subscription costs Rs 9400. If you choose to subscribe through the X app on web, the price is Rs 650 or 6,800 per year. The price difference because of the 30% commission imposed by the App Store and Google Play Store.

An add-free subscription means that X is actively looking for ways to increase its revenue from its subscription model. The no-ad subscription will charge more that Rs 900 a month.

Musk has been making rapid changes to X since taking it over. The company recently stopped showing news headlines posted on X. Musk says that the move will improve aesthetics of the platform and also curb clickbait.
