Apple’s answer to Google Lens- Visual Intelligence is set to come soon on iPhone 15 Pro. The company’s representatives confirmed this to John Gruber of Daring Fireball, explaining that Visual Intelligence will be added in a future software update for iPhone 15 Pro users. Like Google Lens, Visual Intelligence will also allow users to point their cameras at objects to learn more about them.
Visual Intelligence as first spotted in iPhone 16 lineup
Visual Intelligence was originally introduced with the iPhone 16 lineup in September. Apple showcased the feature, which can be launched through the Camera Control button. The idea behind the feature is to offer users a way to quickly gather information about their surroundings, simply by pointing cameras at the object around and learning more about them.
How Visual Intelligence works
Visual Intelligence works pretty much similar to Google Lens, letting users point their iPhone camera at objects or scenes, and receive information about them instantly.
Coming to iPhone 15 Pro via Action Button and Control Center
The iPhone 15 Pro users can access Visual Intelligence feature using the device’s Action Button. The Action Button is a customisable button on the side of the phone, which can be used for various tasks. In addition to this, users will also be able to launch the feature from the Control Center, which is the menu that can be pulled down from the top of the screen.
Visual Intelligence availability
Apple has not yet disclosed the exact software update that will bring Visual Intelligence to iPhone 15 Pro. However, Gruber expects it to arrive with the upcoming iOS 18.4 update. This update is expected to enter developer beta soon, with a public release likely around early April 2025.
