Apple iPad lineup 2024 is expected to bring many firsts along with it. There are talks that Apple could launch a foldable iPad next year but analysts and experts are divided on this. Now renowned Apple analyst Ming Chi-Kuo has made some exciting revelations about the upcoming iPad.

According to Kuo, Apple is poised to elevate its existing iPad models, with a significant emphasis on key upgrades such as the advanced M3 processor and the integration of vibrant OLED displays. Anticipated iPad shipments for 2024 are estimated to range between 52 and 54 million units, showcasing a notable progression despite a slight dip from 2023.

Kuo predicts that there will be two iPad Air variants, measuring 10.9 inches and 12.9 inches, arriving in the first quarter of 2024. The standout feature is the introduction of a completely new 12.9-inch iPad Air model. Although devoid of mini-LED technology, this model boasts an Oxide backplane promising superior display performance compared to the 10.9-inch iPad Air equipped with an a-Si backplane.

Kuo further predicts that Apple is gearing up to replace mini-LED technology with two new OLED iPad Pros, scheduled for mass production in late Q1-24 and Q2-24.

These cutting-edge iPad Pros will showcase the powerful M3 processor and feature refined form factor designs. The OLED panels will adopt the Tandem design and LTPO backplanes, akin to those utilised in the iPhone 15 Pros. However, due to unforeseen production challenges with OLED panel modules, mass production is expected to experience a delay to late Q1-24/Q2-24.

Kuo also speculates on the pricing dynamics, suggesting that if the cost of the new 10.9-inch iPad Air remains unchanged and the 12.9-inch model sees an increase, Apple may be aiming to uphold the price gap between the iPad Air and iPad Pro to maintain its existing product segmentation strategy. Consequently, the new OLED iPad Pros could potentially witness a price hike. Despite these considerations, shipments for the two OLED iPad Pro models are estimated at 6-8 million units in 2024, displaying slightly subdued momentum compared to existing iPad Pros, possibly influenced by the higher price of OLED iPads and competition from the 12.9-inch iPad Air.
