Airtel experienced a temporary service disruption on Tuesday evening across several regions in India. Numerous Airtel customers voiced their frustrations on social media, detailing the issues they encountered. According to a website that tracks downtime, the outage was initially reported after 7:00 PM IST on May 13 and lasted until 11:35 PM IST. While the full list of affected areas has yet to be confirmed, users from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and New Delhi were among those reporting network connectivity problems.

Roughly 66 percent of Airtel users reported no signal, while 21 percent experienced issues with mobile phone services, and 13 percent faced disruptions with mobile internet connectivity.

During the outage, many users reportedly couldn’t make phone calls due to a lack of network signal. However, according to The Hindu, some users in the affected regions were still able to access mobile data and Internet services.

Frustrated users have turned to social media to share issues such as lack of network coverage, “emergency calls only” status, and total service failure. Some also mentioned that the outage was impacting online payments and UPI transactions.

Airtel Statement:

“We regret to inform that Airtel is currently facing a temporary network disruption in certain areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Our technical teams are diligently working to address the issue and restore services as quickly as possible,” an Airtel spokesperson told The Hindu.
