Once considered a niche sport, padel is now making its way into the Indian mainstream, attracting not just celebrities but a growing number of everyday fitness enthusiasts as well.

Actor Dino Morea recently shared in an interview with Pinkvilla that he regularly plays padel in his free time, alongside tennis. “I play tennis, I play padel,” he said. Meanwhile, actor Sonam Kapoor was spotted wielding a Prada padel racquet—an image her husband Anand Ahuja posted on Instagram with the caption: “They say padel is a fashion sport, so of course it comes naturally to Sonam Kapoor.”

But padel isn’t just a passing celebrity trend. For many Indians, it’s fast becoming a preferred way to stay active—delivering the high-energy workout of tennis or squash, but with a gentler impact and lower risk of injury.

The Good Club, a sports and wellness major, has announced the signing of two Letters of Intent (LOIs) for upcoming projects in Delhi and New Chandigarh.

In Delhi, The Good Club will launch its main Padel facility later this year, featuring advanced courts and modern amenities. In New Chandigarh, the club is set to open India’s first dedicated Padel retreat at Amari Hills by mid-2026, according to an official press release.

This retreat aims to offer a complete and immersive Padel experience. Alongside its domestic plans, the club also has its eyes set on global growth, as it prepares to take its Padel League—known as the Good Club Padel League (GCPL)—to international locations.

The Padel League has already gained strong traction in India, drawing in top players and enthusiastic fans. Its success highlights the sport’s increasing popularity and establishes The Good Club as a pioneer in the Indian Padel community, the release mentioned.

Founded by Pranav Mehra and Aashana A Mehra, The Good Club claims to be focused on promoting the sport of Padel along with a holistic approach to wellness. Their mission is to build a community that encourages physical fitness, social interaction, and personal development.

“The signing of these LOIs is a major milestone in our journey to popularize Padel. We’re excited to bring our vision to life and create a sports and wellness destination that inspires and empowers our community,” founders, said.

Financially, the club is seeing steady revenue growth from its Padel-related activities, including its facilities, events, and leagues. It is also investing strategically in infrastructure, marketing, and talent to support its expansion, as per the release.
