Natural products in beauty care are among the most used products. Shrutika Arjun, a well-known actress turned entrepreneur, used the opportunity to explore the ancient ayurvedic system to develop skincare products, which became a reality and emerged as a global brand endorsed by A-list celebrities.
About her education and career
Shrutika’s educational journey began at Adarsh Vidhyalaya Girls School in Royapeta, Chennai. Progressing to SRM Ramapuram, she pursued a B.Sc. and later an MBA, where she held the position of cultural secretary. Topping in Accountancy during her first semester, she also served as a lecturer and soft skills trainer during her undergraduate years.
The change in Shrutika’s life was the six-year gap she took for maternal leave, embracing the role of a homemaker and nurturing her family. However, this pause in her career did not deter her spirit; instead, it laid the foundation for her entrepreneurial journey.
Founding Haappy Herbs
In 2018, Shrutika founded Haappy Herbs with an initial investment of Rs. 5 lakhs, focusing on creating a wellness brand inspired by Ayurveda. Operating as the sole founder, she managed various aspects of the business, including product packaging and customer communications. By the subsequent year, the company generated a revenue of Rs. 10 lakhs. The early stages involved distributing samples to friends, and positive feedback motivated her to formally introduce the products to the market. Over time, the company has experienced significant growth, reaching a revenue of Rs. 10 crores during the fiscal year 2022.
Acquiring customers belief
Utilizing platforms like Facebook and Instagram, Shrutika showcased her products to the world. She claims, “The authenticity of Haappy Herbs, with purely Ayurvedic formulations and a commitment to quality without any adulteration, earned customers’ trust, which is rare in today’s market. Positive customer feedback poured in without incentives.”
Despite being a small business initially, Shrutika’s dedication and hands-on approach catapulted Haappy Herbs to new heights. Her customer base has expanded, reaching even celebrities, thanks to word of mouth and the genuine satisfaction of customers.
Scaling to New Heights
The company initially had a lineup of two products. Haappy Herbs now boast a diverse product line with 30 offerings, ranging from serums to shampoos and hair oils. Before a product is released, the company claims it undergoes testing for potential allergic reactions.
One of the popular products from Haappy Herbs is the Turmeric Night Repair Cream, personally endorsed by Shrutika and tried first on her husband, Arjun.
Beyond geographical boundaries, Happy Herbs has expanded its reach to different countries, including the USA, Canada, and Malaysia, and connects with a global audience seeking natural and effective beauty solutions.
Haappy Herbs growth has brought back Ayurveda. One can create a brand that survives and thrives in the competitive world of beauty and wellness.
