Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the first potential trillionaire in the world, shared a motivational video on his platform X (formerly Twitter). Talking about laziness in the video, the speaker debunks the myth behind the mindset that leads to the habit. Captioned, “This guy literally explained how some people never feel lazy and how to copy them (in 2 mins),” the video came as a surprise for viewers used to Musk bashing the state media and crime rate statistics.

Focus on outcome, not effort

As per the video shared by Musk, the speaker debunked the myth behind the “habit of laziness”. He questioned, ” What if laziness is nothing but a habit of thinking about the effort instead of thinking about the outcome?” Further, he proposed reversing the laziness by simply thinking about the fruitful outcome, rather than the effort required to achieve it. Hinting at the modern-day manifestation, the speaker challenged whether one could apply it to their daily lives.

He also claimed that this habit, of “not thinking about the effort is vital to the survival of humanity.” Also coming as a surprising string of messages from Musk, this motivational video debunks laziness as a mere case of recalibrating focus. From devoting your attention towards the “positive outcome,” one not only guarantees determination, but also sacrifices the pain, “because you’ve already committed.”

Is laziness linked to dopamine?

Dopamine is the happy hormone, a neurotransmitter that is responsible for making humans feel motivated. Its deficiency is often linked with feelings of depression, addiction, Parkinson’s, ADHD, and other conditions. Dubbed the “motivation molecule,” dopamine drives focus and the brain’s reward system.

When dopamine levels are adequate, the brain feels motivated to perform tasks expecting positive outcomes or rewards. In fact, lower levels might be linked to stress, poor diet, lack of sleep, or other lifestyle conditions. At the same time, overstimulation of dopamine might lead to dependence on a quick reard system such as social media.
