Bollywood superstar Salman Khan recently appeared on The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 3 and surprised fans with an honest and emotional revelation about his health. Known for his strong screen presence and fitness, the 58-year-old actor shared that he has been silently battling multiple serious health issues while continuing to work in films.

During the conversation with host Kapil Sharma, Salman appeared cheerful and full of energy. But when asked about marriage, he spoke about how difficult it would be to rebuild his life emotionally and financially if he were to go through a divorce, especially while dealing with health problems at this stage in life.

On the show, he said, “I’m out here breaking my bones every day—ribs are fractured. I’m working despite having trigeminal neuralgia, there’s an aneurysm in the brain, and still, I’m going. There’s also an AV malformation, and I haven’t stopped.”

He added, “All of this is going on in my life. And if the wife decides to leave, she might take away half of what I’ve earned. If this had happened at a younger age, I could’ve started again. But now, it’s not that easy.”

This revelation left his fans shocked but this is not the first time he is openly talking about his health issues.

Not his first time talking about trigeminal neuralgia

In 2017, while promoting his film Tubelight in Dubai, Salman revealed that he had been diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia, a painful nerve condition often described as one of the worst pains a person can experience.

He had reportedly started experiencing symptoms around 2007, during the filming of Partner. At the time, he went through severe facial pain that affected his day-to-day life and shooting schedules. He eventually underwent surgery in the US in 2011.

The actor once called trigeminal neuralgia a “suicidal disease,” referring to how unbearable the pain can become. Many patients with the condition suffer from depression and suicidal thoughts due to the intensity of the pain. But what is it?

What is trigeminal neuralgia?

Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic nerve condition that causes intense, electric shock-like pain in the face. It affects the trigeminal nerve, which is responsible for sending sensations from the face to the brain. The pain usually occurs on one side of the face, around the jaw, cheek, or eye and can be triggered by simple activities like brushing teeth, chewing, talking, or even feeling wind on the face.

What is a brain aneurysm?

A brain aneurysm is a bulge or ballooning in a blood vessel in the brain, caused by a weak spot in the vessel wall. Most aneurysms don’t show symptoms unless they rupture. When a brain aneurysm bursts, it can lead to a hemorrhagic stroke, which is a serious medical emergency. It can cause brain damage or even be life-threatening if not treated in time.

What is AV malformation?

An arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is a rare condition where the blood vessels between arteries and veins form abnormally. Normally, blood flows from arteries to capillaries to veins. But in an AVM, blood flows directly from arteries to veins, creating pressure and increasing the risk of a rupture. AVMs usually develop in the brain or spine and can cause symptoms like headaches, seizures, or bleeding in the brain. They are often present from birth but may not be detected until later in life.

Despite these serious health issues, Salman Khan continues to act, shoot action scenes, and entertain millions of fans.
