Porter has forayed into the city of Kanpur with its logistics services. Continuing its expansion in Tier-II & Tier-III markets, the company aims to ensure efficient and hassle-free goods movement through its range of vehicles.

Kanpur’s strategic location at the intersection of major highways and railways makes it a convenient transit point for goods and materials. Since the city is also located close to the upcoming Delhi-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (DKI) and the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) nodes, Porter’s foray into the city will further enhance its logistics connectivity and attract more capital investment in the region.

Additionally, Kanpur emerging as a major industrial hub in Uttar Pradesh with a diverse range of industries including textiles, leather, paint/chemicals, detergents, engineering and pharmaceuticals will pave the way for efficient logistics and supply chain management in the city.

Lucknow has been a great success story for the company and, along with Kanpur, the two cities will help Porter build a very strong cluster presence in Uttar Pradesh.

The company is looking at onboarding over 600 driver-partners to drive the intracity logistics services in the city and the number of driver-partners is expected to reach more than 3,000 by the end of the first year of operation. The expansion is expected to transform the business scenario leading to the direct and indirect employment of more than 12,000 people with a targeted base of 20,000 customers in the first year.

Speaking on the announcement, Manish Gupta, Vice President – Trucks at Porter said, “Porter’s journey towards moving a billion dreams, one delivery at a time has been well-received across the country over the years. Including Kanpur, one of the most dynamic cities with diverse logistics needs in our logistics operation, we aim to cater to the existing needs in the market with our on-demand vehicle at affordable rates, quick service with utmost security and live-tracking along with other advanced technology, dedicated team, and commitment to eco-friendly practices.”

With the launch in Kanpur, Porter will now be operating in 20 cities across India. Porter plans to expand to 35 cities in the next two years, with the aim to gain greater penetration within Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
