Based on an analysis conducted by the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), The grand city witnessed a surge in pollution levels from November 1 to 15, 2023. Consequently, Delhi’s air quality has oscillated between the very poor and severe categories since the beginning of November 2023.
As winter sets in across major cities in India, a similar scenario unfolds. This detrimental air quality has significant health implications, with a report from the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (EPIC) in August revealing that air pollution is reducing life expectancy in Delhi by nearly 12 years.
Adding to the severity of the situation are vehicular emissions, which are identified as a major contributor. Recent findings from a collaborative project between the Delhi government and IIT-Kanpur indicate that on November 15, 2023, vehicular emissions constituted approximately 38% of the capital’s air pollution, which is projected to reach 40% in successive days.
Hence, as winter approaches, the voice for sustainable and eco-friendly mobility remains at a high decibel each year. With concerns about air quality and climate change on the rise, it’s essential to explore alternative fuels that address environmental issues and cater to seasonal demands. Auto LPG, globally, is heralded as one of the best choices to promote clean and sustainable mobility.
Auto LPG, a blend of propane and butane, is a low-emission fuel that has gained recognition in the automotive industry across the world for its environmental benefits. This clean-burning alternative to traditional fuels like petrol and diesel is particularly relevant in India, where winters can exacerbate air quality concerns. Here’s why embracing Auto LPG is a prudent decision for individuals and communities in India looking to impact the environment positively.
Environmental Benefits:
Winter in India often witnesses a spike in pollution levels; transportation being a primary reason for that surge. Auto LPG stands out as a cleaner fuel option, producing significantly fewer harmful emissions than conventional fuels. The combustion of Auto LPG releases fewer particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, and sulfur dioxide, contributing to improved air quality. By choosing Auto LPG for winter mobility needs, individuals can actively participate in reducing their carbon footprint and mitigating the environmental impact associated with transportation.
Cost-Effectiveness:
In addition to its environmental advantages, Auto LPG offers economic benefits for individual consumers and businesses in India. Auto LPG typically costs less than traditional fuels, providing an immediate cost advantage. Moreover, vehicles running on Auto LPG often exhibit improved fuel efficiency, translating into long-term savings for Indian consumers. As winter brings increased energy expenditures, choosing a cost-effective and sustainable fuel option becomes crucial for individuals and businesses in India.
Vehicle conversion:
Adopting Auto LPG doesn’t necessarily mean investing in a new vehicle for Indians. Many existing petrol-powered vehicles in India can be converted to run on Auto LPG with relatively simple modifications. This conversion process is cost-effective and contributes to extending the lifespan of existing vehicles, reducing the overall environmental impact associated with manufacturing new automobiles. It offers a practical and affordable solution for individuals in India who want to make their existing vehicles more environmentally friendly without needing a complete vehicle replacement.
Recognition:
In the past, states like Karnataka and West Bengal have provided grants for converting cars or three-wheeler rickshaws to Autogas. Various Indian cities, including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, have implemented initiatives to promote or enforce the utilization of Auto-LPG to combat air pollution.
Urgent measures are needed to address the escalating pollution levels and deteriorating air quality in major Indian cities. Therefore, when winter arrives and pollution levels escalate, choosing Auto LPG becomes a practical and impactful decision for individuals and communities in India. Embracing Auto LPG means not only addressing environmental concerns but also playing a role in achieving cleaner air, decreased emissions, and a more sustainable future for everyone.
