The maiden edition of the Bharat Mobility Expo saw over 1,000 exhibitors across the automotive value chain, ranging from automakers to tier 2, 3, software, and skilling companies. This was the first time an event compromising the automotive industry under one roof was executed after a long time.
Until now, the automotive industry saw the biennial Auto Expo and Auto Component Show being executed in different locations in Delhi NCR. The Auto Expo for a while has been losing its sheen with the number of automakers slowly ditching the event sighting higher costs and dropping footfalls. This time, however, several automakers that had ditched Auto Expo marked their presence at Bharat Mobility Expo 2024.
Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 was truly a “milestone event” and said this won’t be a one-time affair but become a regular event. It is interesting to note that the maiden edition saw the majority of the automakers showcase green technologies.
The 3-day event was organised by the Ministry of Commerce, in partnership with other ministries and industry bodies such as the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA), Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV), India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA), Indian Steel Association, India Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA) Material Recycling Association of India, Invest India, India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and NASSCOM.
While the next edition of the Auto Expo and Component Show is scheduled for 2025, it is yet to be seen how the auto industry will react to the event.
