Virat Kohli has reportedly transferred the general power of attorney for his luxury Gurugram bungalow to his elder brother, Vikas Kohli. The property, located in DLF City Phase-1, is estimated to be worth Rs 80 crore, according to News18. Virat has reportedly shifted to London and is residing there with his wife, Anushka Sharma, and their two children. According to the report, the decision was taken to avoid legal and administrative complications related to the property in India.

According to Moneycontrol, the formal transfer of Virat’s property took place at the Wazirabad Tehsil office in Gurugram on October 14. He also posed for photos and signed autographs for the tehsil employees and took care of the paperwork. The star cricketer is expected to return on October 19 to participate when India plays Australia in a three-match One-Day International series.

The General Power of Attorney (GPA) is a legal document through which a person, known as the principal, authorises another person, known as the agent, to act on their behalf in matters concerning property, finance, or legal affairs. This also includes managing real estate, making agreements, and carrying out financial transactions.

In the case of property ownership, a sale deed is also required along with the GPA to transfer the property title. It is considered a common practice for Indian citizens living abroad to manage their assets via GPAs to simplify the process and eliminate the need for the owner’s physical presence in India.
