Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be launched in India on March 6, informed sources told FinancialExpress.com. That means that Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will likely hit the shelves on March 16 – the international launch date that was announced by Samsung at its Unpacked 2018 event in Barcelona. This signifies the importance that Samsung gives to the Indian market. The new smartphones are already up for pre-order on the Samsung India website at an initial payment of Rs 2,000. The US price of S9 and S9+ is out and a rough foreign exchange calculations shows that the phones may be launched at Rs 47,000 and Rs 54,400 respectively. But this doesn’t take into account import duties or manufacturing costs, which may push up the cost.
On February 25 and a day ahead of the Mobile World Congress, Samsung unveiled its flagship smartphones for 2018 – Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+. The new smartphones come with dual aperture cameras – a first for Samsung. This allows for decent photos to be clicked even in very low light. The S9 and S9+ also have a super-slow motion video recording feature, something that we tried and find quite impressive during our hands-on with the new smartphones. The S9+ has two dual rear cameras of 12 MP each while the S9 has one rear camera of 12MP. Both smartphones have an 8MP front camera.

While the S9 comes with a 5.8 inch immersive infinity display, for the S9+ it’s at 6.2 inch. The two smartphones boast of dual stereo speakers and a more intelligent Bixby Live translation. AR emojis that allow you to create a 3D cartoon picture of yourself is yet another highlight of the new smartphones. You can also choose the clothing, hairstyle and skin tone of the AR or augmented reality emoji. A range of 18 expressions are available.
Samsung S9 and S9+ will compete with Apple iPhone X and Google Pixel 2. The design of the new smartphones has been kept similar to their earlier iterations, the S8 and S8+. The battery capacity is at 3,000 mAh and 3,500 mAh respectively.
