In an attempt to make the most of a festival season, filmmakers try their level best to release their respective movies during this period. Everybody seeks to reap the benefit of a festival or national holiday to rake in as much money as possible. Keeping up with the tradition, this year too Diwali saw the release of some big Hindi movies. as well as those in other languages. Mersal box office collections: Superstar Vijay’s Mersal is on a quest to create some big records at the box office. Don't believe? At least the collections say so. Mersal is the first movie that is all set to be released in Japan on Diwali weekend in 4 locations. Mersal has been directed by Atlee Kumar, who has co-written the script with “Baahubali” writer KV Vijayendra Prasad. Mersal released on October 18. According to industry tracker Ramesh Bala, Mersal earned Rs 31.50 crore in India, while its worldwide collection stands at Rs 43.50 crore. (IE)

Raja The Great box office collections: Telugu Ravi Teja movie Raja The Great hit screens on October 18. The film directed by Anil Ravilpudi and has opened up to a good Diwali BO score. Teja plays the role of a blind man who uses his other senses to fight wrongdoing. This is Anil Ravilpudi’s third directorial venture. According to analyst Ramesh Bala the film’s 2 days worldwide gross stands at Rs 19.5 cr. (IE)
